We're looking for extremely bright people who are passionate about the markets, especially people with a contrarian bent. We care less about your work history than your raw ability. College seniors and graduate students, as well as seasoned veterans, are encouraged to apply. We're also a small firm and we often work long hours, so it's important that we enjoy working together — try to get a sense for the firm when you interview and make sure that you like us.

We take hiring seriously and the interview process is comprehensive. Interviews begin with a phone call from our recruiting department, followed by on-site interviews with the people you'd be working with most closely. Second round interviews generally involve senior employees from across the company. Finally, candidates for virtually any position will have an interview with the head of the company. The whole process generally takes about a month.

During an interview, you should be prepared to articulate your reasons to seeking a job at Montan Operations specifically and to demonstrate your thought process through hypotheticals relevant to your position. For those of you applying for positions on the research team, you should also be familiar with some of our more recent ideas, which you can access on our website after e-mailing us for the password. You should also ask frank questions about the company — we won't be offended, and we'll give you straight answers. There's no point in having you discover too late that we weren't the right fit for you. So ask away.
